Darlington man accused of sex crimes
Darlington County Sheriff Tony Chavis has announced the arrest of a Darlington man following an investigation into alleged sexual crimes dating back to July 2012.
Raymond Kevin Warren, 51, is charged with 10 counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 11, first degree, and 12 counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor between 11 and 14, second degree. Investigators allege Warren, from 2012-16, did “engage in sexual battery with the juvenile victim by digit penetration.”
Special Victims Unit investigators and deputies assigned to the Special Incident Response Team served a search warrant at the defendant’s residence on Auburn School Road. Investigators searched the residence for additional evidence, and the defendant was arrested a short time later.
“Protecting children is near and dear to my heart and is our part of our main goal,” stated Chavis. “This is why I started the Special Victims Unit, to tackle these difficult investigations and protect our most vulnerable.”
The investigation continues, and additional charges were expected in neighboring jurisdictions, the Sheriff’s Office said.
