Darlington High School Early College Graduate Spotlights

Kyra Imani March is one of 13 Darlington High School Early College Honors Program students who will graduate with her Associate of Arts degree from Florence-Darlington Technical College.

When DHS shared its Associate of Arts Degree program with qualified Early College Honors Program students, Kyra decided to rise to the challenge and take advantage of this opportunity. While only a high school freshman, Kyra committed to spend the next three years devoted to college courses each semester in addition to her other high school classes. Her hard work has paid off. Miss March participated in Florence-Darlington Technical College’s Spring commencement ceremony on May 10th and will now receive both Her college degree and high school diploma during Darlington High School’s graduation ceremony on June 7th.

Kyra is a straight-A student in both high school and college. During her time at DHS, Kyra has participated in and held leadership positions in the National Honor Society where she served as the club’s secretary, the Key Club where she served as its editor, the Student Government Association where she chaired the Spirit Committee, the History Club, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes where she held the position of Secretary, and the Beta Club where she served as its President. She has been a member of the Varsity Cheerleading Squad and actively participated in Singing with Living Out Loud Youth Ministry, her church’s Praise and Worship Team, and her church’s Youth Choir.

Kyra plans to attend Harvard University with a full scholarship in the fall. While at Harvard, she she will begin pursuing her goal of becoming an African American Studies professor. When asked about the DHS Early College Honors Program, she stated, “…the program helps students learn the true meaning of perseverance, determination, responsibility, time management, professionalism, and so much more.” Without a doubt Kyra has exhibited each of these qualities and will continue to excel. When DHS shared its Associate of Arts Degree program with qualified Early College Honors Program students, Aryana decided to rise to the challenge and take advantage of this opportunity. While only a high school freshman, Aryana committed to spend the next three years, including one summer, devoted to college courses each semester in addition to her other high school classes. Her hard work has paid off. Miss Inman participated in Florence-Darlington Technical College’s Spring commencement ceremony on May 10th and will now receive both her college degree and high school diploma during Darlington High School’s graduation ceremony on June 7th.

Aryana is a dedicated student at DHS where she has participated in many community service activities both on campus and in the community; she has also served as President of the Darlington Anchor Club. When she is not working on school work or working her part-time job, Aryana enjoys hanging out with her friends and shopping.

Aryana plans to attend Wingate University in the fall. When asked her thoughts about the Early College Honors program at DHS, she stated, “I think it is a great opportunity for students to save money on college.” With the effort she has shown thus far, there is no doubt that Aryana is off to a great start. Kendrell Jamal Parker is one of 13 Darlington High School Early College Honors Program students who will graduate with his Associate of Arts degree from Florence-Darlington Technical College.

When DHS shared its Associate of Arts Degree program with qualified Early College Honors Program students, Kendrell decided to rise to the challenge and take advantage of this opportunity. While only a high school freshman, Kendrell committed to spend the next three years, including one summer, devoted to college courses each semester in addition to his other high school classes. His hard work has certainly paid off. Kendrell participated in Florence-Darlington Technical College’s Spring commencement ceremony on May 10th and will now receive both his college degree and high school diploma during Darlington High School’s graduation ceremony on June 7th.

Kendrell is a dedicated student at DHS where he served in the Beta Club as club President, the National Honor Society, Students in Action, and as a founding member and then President of the Falcon Young Men. When not in school, Kendrell enjoys singing, dancing, and playing video games. He has also performed in the Florence Little Theater’s production of Beauty and The Beast, performed in the Phoenix Phame Show Choir, and maintained a part-time job.
Kendrell plans to attend the University South Carolina Columbia to major in elementary education and administration. When asked about the DHS Early College Honors Program, Kendrell stated, “I think it’s the best program offered in the area. The chance to get an associate’s degree while in high school attracted me and was well worth it.” With the commitment and dedication he has shown thus far, there is no doubt that Kendrell will be a great success.
