The City of Darlington and the Darlington Police Department held a National Night Out event August 7 in downtown Darlington. The event featured music, food, giveaways, face painting and games. Darlington Police Chief Kelvin C. Washington said that he was happy to be able to hold a fun family event and invite the community.
National Night Out is an annual night all across the country where people are celebrating the police and the community coming together. We thought it would be an excellent opportunity for us and the community to come out and, as young folks say, show each other a little love. We have some of the churches, local civic organizations, even some of the city departments have come out to participate. We look forward to doing this again next year.”
Washington said that he loves doing community-oriented events and he looks forward to doing more of them in Darlington.
