Chamber hosts community tailgating event

The Greater Darlington Chamber of Commerce is hosting Darlington’s Biggest Tailgate on Thursday, September 28. This free community event will take place on the Square in Darlington from 6-8:30 p.m., the day before Darlington High School’s Homecoming game against the Crestwood Knights. There will be food and drinks for purchase, live music from Johnny Glenn and the Chasers, and a canned food drive to benefit The Lord Cares.

The entire Darlington community is invited to come out to the Square to show their team spirit. Attendees are asked to wear their best spirit gear and to bring canned goods in support of their favorite teams. The canned food drive will benefit The Lord Cares, and will also add a little friendly competition to the event. As attendees come in support of their favorite teams, they will also be placing their canned food donations in their favorite team’s bin.

At the end of the evening, the team with the most cans wins. Fans will celebrate the victory by listening to their fight song and chanting. This is the perfect opportunity to wear your DHS purple, and help them win the canned food competition. However, you can come dressed to support any sport’s team; it is not limited to any sport, school, or division.

This event lives up to its name of Darlington’s Biggest Tailgate because of the tailgating atmosphere. Everyone is invited to bring their tailgating chairs and enjoy live music and good food. Johnny Glenn and the Chasers will be providing the evening’s entertainment, and food and beverages will be available for purchase. No tents, cars, or coolers are allowed.

Darlington’s Biggest Tailgate is a free event for the Darlington community. For more information call the Chamber at 843-393-2641.
