A CareSouth doctor ‘was able to help me get my life back,’ Hartsville native says

From trouble walking to getting back to regular life, Jennifer Rockholt is a success story.

A little more than a year ago, Rockholt was having trouble walking, standing for extended periods of time or even getting up out of a chair due to major back pain.

Now, after extensive care with CareSouth Carolina’s chiropractor, Dr. Johnathan Davis, Rockholt is able to stand, walk and maintain proper posture.

Rockholt was referred to Davis through her CareSouth Carolina primary care provider Jennifer Lynch back last year. Though she was skeptical at first, she decided to give it a try after continuously suffering pain and stiffness in her back.

“I know he works on newborns and I figured, if a mom trusts him enough to work on her baby, then I can give him a shot,” Rockholt said.

In February 2018, Rockholt began treatments with Davis two times a week. Davis uses Paraspinal Thermal Imaging, in addition to other tests, to diagnose and treat issues.

Paraspinal Thermal Imaging is unique in that it displays how the nervous system is functioning. Since the health of the nervous system can determine the health of the body, this examination provides critical information vital to your care.

As the scanner is run up the patient’s back, it tracks the surface temperature along the spine. Differences in temperature between opposite sides of the spine are compared to establish normal values. The significance of these temperature differences indicate abnormal function in the nervous system.

“My scan lit up like a Christmas tree,” Rockholt said.

Rockholt underwent treatment with electrodes and adjustments and, in just a few months, the scan was showing much improvement.

“I had two disks that were herniated and I don’t even know where the injury occurred,” Rockholt said. “Most likely, it could’ve been from some injury years ago and it was just now showing symptoms. I couldn’t stand long at all and it killed me to walk.

There was a ton of pain in my lower back, but in just a few months, I could already feel a difference.”

Rockholt said a big aspect of her decision was staying away from pain medicines.

“You’ve got to fix the problem, not just the pain,” Rockholt said. “A lot of people don’t believe in chiropractors, but I didn’t want to have surgery and Dr. Davis was able to help me get my life back. When I went to Jennifer [Lynch], I was in tears. I feel like I have a high tolerance for pain, but that was almost unbearable. What he was able to do is unreal. You can tell improvement is happening and that’s exciting.”
