9th Annual Heart Celebration

The 9th Annual Heart Celebration with the theme “A Caring World for Children” was held March 21 at the CRC Vision Center on 302 Pearl Street. The event was a family affair for all generations, sponsored by the Darlington County Cultural Realism Complex, Inc. C.R.C., Inc. is celebrating a legacy of 42 years with the slogan, “The Best is Yet to Come.”

The Heart Celebration is a combination of three major events in one: 9th Annual “My Heart, My Child”; 16th Annual “Vision Baby of the Year”; and 41st Annual “King and Queen of Hearts Pageant”. Two new segments were added this year: “Contestants Speaking” and “Talented Children in Action”.

The winners were:
Vision Baby of the Year: Latavia Paris McDaniel, age 2; she is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton McDaniel.

King and Queen of Hearts; Shanarge King, Age 4, Granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Smith; Cayla Howard, age 7, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Howard; and Kemarian Brown, age 10, grandson of Mrs. Janice Joe.

My Heart, My Child: Januslia Nettle, age 7, the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton McDaniel.

Talent winner: Joseph Ramsey, age 8, the nephew of Shanreia Dingle.

Public Speaking: Cayla Howard, age 7, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Howard.

Serving as hostesses for this occasion were Ms. Michelle James, Ms. Angel Johnson, and Curstle Thomas. Many thanks to volunteers, parents and media for helping to make the Heart Celebration successful. “Together the Best is Coming. 42 Years and Counting.”
