3 injured as car crashes into store
Three people were injured when a car crashed into the Corner Connection store on Cashua Ferry Road in Darlington on Saturday.
Media reports quoted the Darlington Police Department as saying the crash took place when a driver accidentally pushed on the accelerator rather than the brake.
Police said Monday that the driver was a woman in her 70s.
Ann Blackmon, a cashier at the store, told WBTW-TV: “I was behind the counter when the car came in and it ran into (a) man and pressed him up against the counter. Glass was flying everywhere.
“First thing I did was run behind the counter and got out because the car was smoking and I didn’t want it to blow up.”
The names of the injured were not available at press time Monday.
It was not clear if the driver was among the injured.
