John Allen Parker

Darlington – John Allen Parker, age 34, passed away suddenly on July 11, 2018 while on vacation in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Friday, July 27 at Florence National Cemetery, with full Military Honors provided by the Florence Veteran’s Honor Guard, directed by Belk Funeral Home. A reception followed the service at Blackwater Farms, 2026 Fire Tower Rd. Florence, SC 29506.

John is the son of John K. “John John” Parker and Vicki Maloch Parker. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Cecil Oakley Parker and his grandfather, Mack Maloch. John is survived by his parents, and his children, Sean, Skyler, Gage, Riley, and Sydney; his brother, Hunter (Ashley) and nephew, Max; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Also surviving are his grandparents, Lynette Maloch, Janice Maloch, and John Henry Parker.

John Allen was raised and went to Darlington Schools. He entered the U.S. Army at age 18 in 2002 until 2015. John did four tours of duty in Iraq in the Stryker Division, Comp. C 1st Battalion 5thInfantry Regiment. His favorite pastime was wetting a hook. He never met a stranger and his contagious laughter and fun, loving spirit will be missed.

Robert Thomasson

On July 21, 2018, Robert C. Thomasson, 62 of Parkville, Maryland; peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family; devoted son of the late David Thomasson and Florrie Harrington Thomasson; beloved husband of Anne C. Thomasson (nee Cockey); devoted father of Robert Michael Thomasson, Caroline Anne Thomasson, Christopher Alan Thomasson; loving grandfather of Chloe Thomasson; dear brother of Michael David Thomasson, Ellen Huggins and her husband Johnny, Allyn Thomasson and his wife Maryann, Penny Hobbs and her husband Steve and the late Terry Thomasson; also survived by nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.

The family received friends to honor Robert’s life at the family owned Evans Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services-Parkville, 8800 Harford rd. on Wednesday July 25, 2018 from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm. Henrietta Carrigan

Funeral services for Mrs. Henrietta Jones Carrigan of Darlington were held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Hartsville.

Interment followed in Darlington Memorial Cemetery directed by Jordan Funeral Home, Inc.

The family received friends in the funeral home chapel Friday evening July 27, 2018 from 6-7 p.m.

Bobbie Jean Marlowe Brown

Darlington – Bobbie Jean Marlowe Brown, age 43, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018. The family received friends Sunday, July 29th from 3-5 p.m. at 1310 Madison Ave. Florence, South Carolina. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Born February 7, 1975, Bobbie is the daughter of the late Bobby L. Marlowe and Wanda Faye Marlowe. She worked with and loved animals. Bobbie loved her grandchildren and enjoyed being “Gigi” to them.

Surviving are her husband for 10 years, Reginald Alan Brown; her children, Doris Marie Privette and John Wayne Privette, both of Hartsville; two step-children, Matthew Alan Brown and Kayleigh Shaye, both of Florida; two grandchildren, James Carson Langston and Paxton Connor Langston; sister, Michelle (Kenny) West; aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents who both died in June.

Tammy Collins

Darlington—Tammy Sarvis Collins, 56, of Darlington died on Thursday, July 26, 2018.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Kistler Hardee Funeral Home. The family received friends from 2 until 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Funeral Home and other times at, 620 Heathwood Drive, Darlington.

Tammy was born in Florence, SC. She was the daughter of the late John Sarvis, Sr. and Willa Mae Hutchinson. Tammy enjoyed camping, traveling, going to the beach, cooking and lounging around the pool. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grand babies.

Surviving are her daughters, Courtney Collins of Darlington and Amber Collins Baruch and husband, Zach of Darlington; her grandchildren, Blakeland Collins Baruch and Noah James Baruch both of Darlington; her former husband, Jamie Collins; her brothers, John Sarvis, Billy Locklair and Ricky Locklair; and her sisters, Gennie Aloise and Susan Aaron.

Dennis Hazelton

Florence–Dennis Hazelton, 77, of Florence died on Saturday, July 28, 2018.

A private graveside service was held on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Florence Memorial Gardens, directed by Kistler Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Kistler Hardee Funeral Home and other times at the home, 2948 Redwood Drive, Florence, SC.

Dennis was born in Marion County. He was the son of the late Vern Hazelton and Ruby Hazelton. Dennis retired from ESAB in Florence and worked for many years at Hardee Auto Sales. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with family.

Surviving are his wife, Lila McGee of Florence; his children, Rick McGee, Tony McGee, and Jeff McGee; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Edith Irene (Bo) Martin; his brother-in-law, William “Bill” Britt; his brothers, David Hazelton, and Heyward Murrow; his sisters, Doris Collier, Sarah Long and Edna Seifier; and several nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Buck Hazelton.

Phil Salvo

DARLINGTON- James Philip “Phil” Salvo, age 75, died Saturday, July 28, 2018 at his residence. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery. The family received friends from 1 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday and other times at the home.

Born in Conway, SC on October 5, 1942, he is the son of the late James Kelly Salvo and the late Marie Johnston Salvo. Phil retired from Santee Cooper and enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Descendants of Confederate Veterans and Sons of Confederate Veterans, and also a member of Temple Free Will Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Harriet Laban Salvo, a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jennifer Salvo, all of Darlington, grandchildren: Woods, Austin, Macey, Laynie and Madison; a brother Ray Salvo of Easley, SC , many nieces and nephews and his best friend, Frisky.

He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Salvo and a brother, Wayne Salvo.
